Top 10

Top 10 Annoying things you can say to us during our adoption process. These are in no order what so ever &  are not near all the things you will hear as an adoptive parents!

1) Why are you adopting internationally? I mean there are so many kids in the US that need homes, so why would you not help them?

2) Will your child come with cocaine? (not everyone in Colombia does cocaine, thank you)

3) Will you tell your child they are adopted or do you think it will be better hiding it from them?

4) Will their skin be very dark? Or can Colombian's be lighter skinned?

5) How much does it cost to buy your child (I HATE the word buying)

6) You do know once you adopt you are going to end up pregnant! (Ummm hello, my DH has NO sperm)

7) You are such an amazing person to be taking on something like this

8) Do you think you will love your child like you would a biological? (This is the only way I know to become a family, so yes!)

9) Do not ask me everyday how much longer. It didn't change from yesterday, I do not know & you asking everyday doesn't help

10) Will you actually do things like somebody who is pregnant? EX: Have a shower, do up a nursery before hand, etc

  1. TOTALLY get this. number 9 is really killing me right now.

  2. My personal favorite, this child is so lucky. It makes me think of those cell phones commercials. REALLY? REALLY? I'm stinking lucky that I can do this you nut ball.

I do also love the will you tell them. Well, considering they look nothing like me and will probably have a different skin tone than us, I guess I can't really hide it. But ssshhhh - no one tell. I'm proud of our experience. You will be too.

I did have an older lady once tell to put sunscreen on little man when he was 4 months old, I obviously had left him out in the sun too long, since he was black.

  3. Crazy people. I'd love to see a post with your answers to those lame questions.

  4. Are you effing kidding about #2? Seriously what is wrong with people. I get it that people are curious...but seriously why are people questioning you about this? I would be avoiding those people like the plague! I am excited for you! :)

  5. Okay, we just announced our decision to adopt, and I am already irritated with point #7. I'm not a martyr, thank you.

  6. I know!!! The other day in Wally World I actually had someone come up to me and say, "What country did you get him from - Africa?"...she didn't know me or anything. I looked at her and said, he's not from Africa and walked away. I wanted to say, btw smarty, Africa isn't a country, it's a continent. I hate stupid people - they suck!

  7. I read your post about adopting from Columbia then today I walked in a preschool room and saw that one of my fave kiddos is adopted from there.

  8. #1 drives me crazy. It annoys me that people think we'd prefer #6. And I might hurt the next person that asks #9! Great post. BTW--I'm tagging you with a Versatile Blogger Award. YOU'RE IT!
    Cheese Curds and Kimchi

  9. #5, 6, 7, and 8 are all so annoying!!!

  10. HOLY MOLY! I just dont get people.
